Amazon SDE Interview Experience Off Campus: In this Post we have cover Amazon software development engineer interview experience. If you are preparing for amazon interview and looking for interview question then this interview experience will give you insight about question pattern and difficulty level of exam.

𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗗𝗘-𝟭 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱):

Hi everyone, I recently participated in Amazon’s hiring drive for the SDE-1 role. After completing the Online Assessment, I got an interview invitation on 24th February that my interviews are scheduled for 27th and 28th Feb.

𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗗𝗘-𝟭 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟭 ( 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆):

This round had two interviewers who started with a Leadership Principles question about feedback I’d received and how I improved. They then shared DSA questions on livecode platform:
* Problem 1: A hard sliding window algorithm
* Problem 2: A medium-hard tree problem (similar to “Burn Binary Tree”)
I struggled a bit in first problem, but in the end was able to convince the interviewer about my approach.
As time was running short, the interviewer suggested extending the interview by 15 minutes to ensure we could cover the second problem.
After dry running the test case, I verified that my proposed assumption would correctly solve the problem. And then I told them the BFS based solution. After few follow ups both the interviewers seemed satisfied with my solution.

2 hours after finishing, I got an email scheduling my 2nd round for the next day.

𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗗𝗘-𝟭 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟮 (𝟮𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆):

We started by discussing my project, focusing on why I chose NoSQL over SQL. Then we moved to the DSA problems:
*Problem 1: An easy-medium string problem on anagram search
*Problem 2: A medium-hard 3D dynamic programming problem with matrices

For Problem 1, I dry ran the solution and first coded a brute force approach, then optimised it using a sliding window technique.
For 2nd problem, after going through the question I asked to provide the constraints which he provided instantly. I explained him how recursion can be applied and how it can be optimised using DP. Coded the solution quickly and answered the questions that he had regarding the working of the code.

About an hour later, I got an email scheduling my third round for 5th March.
Just 10 minutes before the interview I received a rescheduling mail for 6th March.

𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗗𝗘-𝟭 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟯 (𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵):

I was expecting a Hiring Manager in this round, but it was conducted by a Senior SDE with over 7 years of experience.
We began with leadership principle questions about challenging situations and critical feedback. I noticed the interviewer was more interested in my professional experience than college or personal projects.

Then came a DSA problem – an array question that seemed straightforward but became challenging when asked to optimise. I suggested several linear approaches, but the interviewer was looking for a logarithmic solution, which I couldn’t crack during the interview.

It’s been 4 weeks but I haven’t got any response from the recruiter. I tried contacting the recruiter and like most cases no response.
